Jazz dance is a continually changing and evolving genre with many points that cross over into other styles such as Broadway, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop, Funk and Lyrical. Perhaps the main distinguishing factor of Jazz dance classes when compared to other styles is its strong focus on rhythm. Many students find pairing Classical Ballet with Jazz classes gives them the beginning of a very well rounded dance practice.
Incorporating warm ups, stretches, floor and corner work along with kicks, jumps, historical and modern steps, combinations and dances, Jazz classes are designed to technically develop students’ creativity with choreography and improvisation.
Footworks Dance Studio Jazz classes are also trained in the Australian Teachers of Dancing Ltd (ATOD) syllabus which has an emphasis on technique, strength, and artistry.
